Lucky Road Trip Find- Tom & Jerry’s Restaurant in Machesney Park, IL

Are you a fan of Marvel and/or DC Comics? Then I have the fast food restaurant for you that happened to be our lucky road trip find in Machesney, IL.

Tom & Jerry’s Restaurant1555 West Lane Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115

Outside Tom & Jerry’s Restaurant

The restaurant is very unassuming from the outside. In fact, we almost passed it by because it just looked like a “regular” restaurant. Boy were we wrong!

Polaroid style picture of the outside of Tom & Jerry's restaurant with the name and address noted on the bottom of the picture. It's a gray and black building with red awnings. There are a number of cars parked in front of the restaurant.

We were on our way home from Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, IL and we decided to stop on a whim. It’s about a 15 minute drive from the Gardens.

Check out my post here about the beautiful Anderson Japanese Gardens.

Inside Tom & Jerry’s Restaurant

The inside of the restaurant is decked out with superheroes that surround you while you eat. They’re even on the walls and sitting in a booth. Spiderman and Iron Man were on the wall and the Joker was sitting at a booth!

I dare you to sit at the booth with the Joker and ask him how he got his scars!

3 Polaroid style pictures. The first one is a picture of Iron Man. The second picture is Dominic sitting in a red booth next to the Joker. The third picture is Spiderman on the wall over Dominic sitting in a red booth.
3 Polaroid style pictures. The first picture is Batman and Superman behind glass. The second picture is Thor. The third picture is Captain America standing on a counter.

Food

We stopped for a quick snack on our way home before dinner. We only ordered a cheeseburger and cheese fries, but were pleasantly surprised by how good they were (for a fast food place). Don’t judge us for all the cheese fries!

There are 2 different kinds of fries- fresh cut fries and crinkle cut fries. Of course, we got the fresh cut! I can’t resist delicious fresh cut fries.

Obviously, go into this with realistic expectations- it’s fast food after all. Don’t get me wrong- it was good and I’ll be going back, but just understand what you’re getting. It was much better than the McDonald’s we were originally looking for.

Apparently, they’re known for their gyros since that’s on the sign- King of the Gyros. Like I said, we only had a burger so I plan on going back for a gyro. I love gyros!

Polaroid style picture: Red tray with a burger on a red plate, fries covered with cheese and another order of fries with a cup of cheese.

Take a look at the menu.

How to Order

You order at the counter and then sit down. They give you a number to bring back to your table and then someone brings the food to you.

You can also order through their drive-thru, but then you miss the uniqueness of the restaurant.

Wrap Up for Tom & Jerry’s Restaurant- Machesney Park, IL location

Definitely giving this one a thumb’s up đź‘Ť for the atmosphere and food. Dominic and I said that the kids would enjoy this and want to come back with them when we can coordinate schedules. It’s a one-of-a-kind fast food place and so happy with this lucky road trip find.

There are other locations, but I don’t know if they’re all decked out with superheroes or this is unique to this location.

Note:

All of the Superheroes were statues/figures. There were no real Superheroes eating with us:)

If you’re into DC Comics, check out my post about when we went to Metropolis, IL, to the hometown of Superman.
